As of February 2023, we are looking at continuing our next round of testing alternatives and awaiting the next shipment for continued member feedback. We made strides to reduce the usage of these bags by 70% this past year. These bags are designed for the liquid items in your shipments to avoid causing the order to be contaminated if any leaks were to occur.
The current bags are standard plastic bags containing up to 30% recycled content. Home composting these bags would not work as they contain plastic content and would need to be recycled along with other thin film plastics (#4) through participating return-to-store collection programs.
We are hoping for positive results in the next round of testing to introduce biodegradable bags that would be able to get discarded in landfills and not just store-drop off recyclable.
